Retail shrinkage is quiet money: a few unpaid items a day that add up to a serious percentage of turnover by year end. Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) attacks it at the one place every item must pass — the door. Our EAS range is built on Sensormatic, the Johnson Controls brand that effectively invented the category.
How it works
Merchandise carries either a reusable hard tag (like the famous SuperTag) or an adhesive UltraStrip label. Detection pedestals at the entrance — the Synergy and Essentials series we supply — sound the alarm if a live tag passes through. At the till, tags come off with a detacher and labels are silenced on a deactivator pad, so paying customers walk out without a beep.
Why acousto-magnetic
Sensormatic's 58 kHz acousto-magnetic technology detects reliably even at wide entrances and near metal shopfronts, where cheaper RF systems struggle. That's why you see the same pedestals at international chains — and the same technology scales down neatly to a single-door boutique.
More than theft prevention
Modern Synergy pedestals do double duty: built-in visitor counting turns your entrance into a footfall sensor, and metal-foil detection flags booster bags before anything leaves. Combined with our people-counting and CCTV ranges, the shop entrance becomes a data source, not just a doorway.
Getting started
We'll help you choose between hard tags and labels for your merchandise mix, position the pedestals for your entrance width, and train staff on tagging discipline — the unglamorous habit that makes the whole system work. Talk to us and we'll spec it around your store.
